Doug daSilva began his photographic journey in 1975 while studying at the University of San Francisco, exploring the medium during a pivotal era in our nation’s consciousness—marked by sweeping shifts in social, cultural, and creative self-expression. Captivated by the compelling black and white photographic work of Ansel Adams during visits to Yosemite, he developed a fascination with photography’s power to distill emotion and tell a story. Doug's work spans landscapes, portraits, abstraction, and realism, driven by the subject itself, inspiring a dialogue that invites viewers to reflect, feel, and interpret through their own lens.
